Starbucks covering travel expenses for employees seeking abortions or gender-affirming procedures

Woke companies, led by Starbucks, are covering travel expenses for employees seeking abortions or gender-affirming procedures.

Starbucks employees seeking access to abortion or gender-affirming procedures will be eligible for reimbursement of travel costs if those services aren’t available within 100 miles of their home. The benefit will also extend to any dependents enrolled in Starbucks health care. The company has 240,000 U.S. employees. Learn more here.

This all follows the 2022 US Supreme Court ruling which overturned Roe v. Wade (1973).

In 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade (1973), which had guaranteed a constitutional right to abortion. The Supreme Court ruled that the substantive right to abortion was not “deeply rooted in this Nation’s history or tradition”.  This meant that abortion laws were pushed back to each US state to determine its own abortion laws. Many conservative states are now banning (or severely limiting) abortions, whereas liberal states such as California continue to kill unborn children.

Roe was “grievously wrong for many reasons, but the most fundamental is that its core holding — that the Constitution protects a woman’s right to abort her unborn child — finds no support in the text of the Fourteenth Amendment” … Justice Clarence Thomas – Supreme Court of the United States
