Snow White should be renamed as “Snow Woke”. Lead actress Rachel Zegler, who plays Snow White in Disney’s remake, has angered fans of the story after a video surfaced in which she refers to Prince Charming as a “stalker”.
In an interview with Extra TV filmed in September 2022, Ms Zegler suggested actor Andrew Burnap’s portrayal of the Prince in the new film could be dramatically changed.
“The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so,” Zegler said. “There’s a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird! Weird! So we didn’t do that this time.”
“We have a different approach to what I’m sure a lot of people will assume is a love story just because we cast a guy in the movie. All of Andrew’s scenes could get cut, who knows? It’s Hollywood, baby!”
Although rumours of some changes to the film are yet to be confirmed, Disney has announced the seven dwarves will be replaced by a diverse cast of “magical creatures” of different ethnicities and genders.
